Why it suits a slow retreat
Fanjingshan has high forest cover and fresh air, with quiet trails and murmuring streams — a fine place to slow down and settle the mind. Stepping away from the noise and walking gently is a rest in itself.
How to slow down
- Start with a few deep breaths and ease your pace, taking in the woodland air;
- Choose a gentle stretch of trail and stroll, looking as you go, not racing;
- Pause at a viewpoint or rest spot, listen to wind and water, and put the phone away.
How to arrange the trip
- Alternate sightseeing and rest, avoiding long unbroken stretches;
- With time to spare, split it over two days and focus on quiet walking and views;
- Dawn and dusk are quieter and calmer — best for a slow, settled visit.
Note
- Pick trails within your limits and rest and seek help if you feel unwell;
- Care for the plants, keep quiet, do not feed wildlife or litter.
