Visit with respect
Fanjingshan has been a famous Buddhist mountain since ancient times, and its temples, statues and steles carry a deep cultural heritage. Visit with respect, follow the rules of the place and accord belief and culture their due regard.
Basic etiquette
- Dress neatly and modestly; do not shout or play — keep quiet;
- Do not touch statues, ritual objects or relics at will, and do not carve or scrawl in the halls;
- Check whether photos are allowed and avoid using flash on statues.
Getting along with others
- When worshippers are bowing, make way, do not disturb and do not crowd to photograph;
- Be polite and patient when receiving guidance and commentary;
- If joining related activities, do so in order as arranged on site.
Care for the monuments
Relics cannot be remade — do not pick, carve or damage them. Take away a civilised memory and leave the mountain's serenity.
