National Day holiday tips: book early, enter early, avoid the peak

Book First, Then Set Off — Move Your Entry Time Earlier

During long holidays, visitor traffic at Fanjingshan is concentrated, and the scenic area operates a real-name reservation system for entry. Visitors planning to go are advised to complete their reservation and buy tickets in advance through online channels, entering ID information at checkout that matches the person entering, since entry is verified by ID card. During peak season, tickets may be unavailable on site or long queues may form, so taking care of the reservation step in advance will make your trip much more relaxed.

When booking, choose an earlier time slot for entry; morning crowds tend to flow more smoothly, and you can also avoid the mid-day peak queues for the cableway and the Golden Summit as much as possible. Discount ticket types for students, seniors, and children can be selected as needed, and valid identification must be verified at entry; children under 1.4 m in height usually receive free admission to the main gate ticket and must be accompanied by a guardian.

East Gate or West Gate — Decide Your Route Up the Mountain First

Before setting out, decide whether you will enter the mountain from the East Gate or the West Gate, and plan your transport and route accordingly. The mountain gates, shuttle buses, and cableway may all have queues, and the trails on the mountain can also be crowded during peak periods, so the clearer your route, the less likely you are to waste time going back and forth on site.

  • Ticket composition: The main gate ticket is the basic ticket for entering the scenic area and requires a real-name reservation; the shuttle bus connects the mountain gate with the lower cableway station and is essential transport for entering the mountain; the round-trip cableway runs from the lower station straight up to the mountainside of the Golden Summit, saving a great deal of climbing effort, and a round trip is usually more cost-effective than a one-way ticket.
  • A hassle-free choice: You can directly select the combo ticket of "main gate ticket + round-trip cableway + round-trip shuttle bus."
  • Accommodation and transport: The earlier you book accommodation and round-trip transport, the more options you will have; please allow ample time when traveling during long holidays.

Queues and Pacing: Leave Buffer Time, Head Down Early

Queue in an orderly manner for the shuttle buses and cableway as directed on site; do not cut in line or crowd, and keep an eye on your companions while waiting. Leave enough buffer time in your itinerary, adjust the order of your sightseeing promptly when you encounter queues, and do not feel compelled to visit every spot in one trip. Save your energy and patience, slow down the pace, and you can still enjoy yourself even when it is crowded.

Cableway and shuttle bus operations are affected by weather, so keep your itinerary flexible; check opening status, cableway operation, and weather conditions before you travel and plan accordingly. Head down the mountain before dark to avoid being stranded. Walk slowly and watch your step on slippery mountain paths, carry your trash down the mountain with you, and travel responsibly so your journey is more relaxed.

Keep an Eye on Weather and On-Site Arrangements at All Times

When traveling during long holidays, please pay attention to the day's weather and on-site arrangements, and follow guidance for an orderly visit. If you want to avoid the most crowded periods, try to travel at the beginning or end of the holiday or on weekdays; enter early and climb early, as morning crowds tend to flow more smoothly. In the off-season, avoid winter and summer vacations and statutory holidays; on ordinary days visitor traffic is relatively light, with fewer queues and a more relaxed pace, but late winter and early spring can be quite cold, so pay attention to keeping warm and preventing slips, and some facilities may also be adjusted, so confirm accommodation, dining, and transport before you travel.
